Myeik Archipelago
The Myeik Archipelago is located at the southernmost tip
of Myanmar. Myeik Archipelago covers about 36,000 sq km
comprises more than 800 islands. Most of the area remains
unexplored. Those islands possess a wide diversity of flora
and fauna and underwater coral reefs and marine life. Some
of the islands have magnificent white sand beaches,
unparallel to any of the world’s most famous beaches.
These islands also have varieties of mangroves, forests,
wild-life, lagoons, caves, fresh – water falls and rivers.
There are many locations for sea kayaking, scuba – diving
and fishing that are considered the best in the world. In
the deeper waters of the Myeik Archipelago, rock pinnacles
covered with healthy corals attract dolphins, sharks and
many species of fish.
The salones / sea-gypsies are taking refuge around Lampi
Island in this area. Formerly called Victoria Point,
Kawthaung is the southern most town of Myanmar. Visitors can
take private speed boat from Kawthaung or Ranong
to the newly opened Myanmar Andaman Resort, own
private island, 40 miles from the coast. Myanmar Andaman
